91 points, Wine Enthusiast – 4/1/2016
“A huge, concentrated wine, this offers all the characteristic ripeness and big flavor in the variety, from brown sugar to baked plum to vanilla to tar. Almost reaching Port-like proportions in terms of alcohol and weight, it pulls back just enough to reveal spicy black pepper and cinnamon on the finish.”
94+ Points – 2013 HANNA Alexander Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($62)
“The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve/Red Ranch is a big-time winner, maybe even a sleeper of the vintage. The wine offers juicy, succulent blueberry and blackberry fruit along with licorice and cassis. It is full-bodied, opulent and flavorful, multilayered and complex already. This is a stunning wine and certainly the best Cabernet Sauvignon I have ever tasted from Hanna. This beauty should age effortlessly for two decades.”
93 Points – 2013 HANNA Bismark Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon ($65)
“The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Bismark Mountain Vineyard from Moon Mountain (the Sonoma side of the famous Mayacamas Mountains) is a Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards planted between 1,700-2,000 feet. This beautiful, striking wine is full-bodied and rich, with loads of cassis, blackcurrants, licorice and big, full-throttle flavors with sweet tannin and impeccable balance. This is another winner.”
91 Points – 2013 HANNA Bismark Mountain Titan ($64)
“The 2013 Red Blend Titan, which comes from the Bismark Mountain Vineyard within the relatively recent Moon Mountain AVA, is a blend of 65% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Franc, 13% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a showy, extroverted style of wine with an inky bluish/purple color, notes of blueberry, coffee, pen ink and flowers, medium to full body, supple tannins, and an attractive texture and length. This is an intriguing blend, and Hanna has certainly gotten it right. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.”
89 Points – 2013 HANNA Reserve Alexander Valley Alchimie ($64)
“The 2013 Proprietary Red Reserve Alchimie, which hails from Red Ranch in Alexander Valley, is a blend of Bordeaux grapes. Dense ruby/purple with cassis, blueberry and floral notes, the wine is medium to full-bodied with sweet tannin and nicely integrated wood. This is a well-made blend to drink over the next 10-15+ years.”
88 Points – 2013 HANNA Alexander Valley “Red Ranch” Cabernet Sauvignon ($42)
“Another delicious wine is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Ranch. A surprisingly supple, young Cabernet, the wine has a dense ruby/purple color, loads of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, spice, earth and graphite. It is medium to full-bodied, rich and well-made. I found this to be a surprisingly elegant take on Cabernet. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.”

2013 HANNA Cabernet Sauvignon – Alexander Valley – GOLD MEDAL
“2014 Hanna Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley ($19): Simply one of the classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas in California, with a touch of lime adding depth to grapefruit and gooseberry and an astounding fruit-succulence that leads to a dry finish. Just 13.2% alcohol. More and the wine would have been clumsy.”

93 pts – 2012 HANNA Reserve Alexander Valley Alchimie
Another beauty, it offers blueberry, black raspberry and cassis fruit in its exuberant personality along with beautiful purity, plenty of body and richness, and a heady finish. Purity, depth and ripeness make for a wine to drink now as well as over the next decade or more. This is a winner!
92 pts – 2012 HANNA Bismark Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (sold out)
An outstanding Cabernet, it is young and promising with plenty of blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with notions of incense, camphor and spring flowers. Full-bodies with sweet tannin, there is not a hard edge to be found in this concentrated, full-bodied, impressive Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s accessible enough to be drunk now if you like your fruit rather primary, but will age effortlessly for two decades.
91 pts – 2013 Elias Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
It boasts a surprisingly deep ruby/purple color, lots of spicy black cherry fruit, medium to full body, and lovely texture as well as length. It is another excellent wine from HANNA. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
89 pts – 2012 Elias Russian River Valley Chardonnay
A beautiful Chardonnay, it offers buttery peach and pear as well as a hint of pineapple, hazelnut, discrete oak and a medium to full-bodied, Burgundian style. It should drink well for 4-5 years.
88+ pts – 2012 HANNA Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Exhibits deep blueberry and blackberry fruit, not a lot of complexity, but good density and richness. This medium to full-bodied Cabernet should age along the lines of the famous 1974 Chateau Souverain Vintage Selection that was one of my early picks for a best value wine that could stand the test of time. This 2012 should last 15-20 years.

2013 HANNA Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc
This sauvignon Blanc has it all – a range of tasty flavors, bright acid and great balance. Note of guava, grapefruit and lime, with the right dose of spice. Nice finish. A smart buy.
2012 HANNA Bismark Mountain Zinfandel
In has a great range of flavors – raspberry, sage and a hint of vanilla. Milder than the big, honkin’ Zins on the market, this style is a welcome addition. It has ripe tannins, a seamless texture and a supple finish. Lovely.
