The Vineyard
Fifty four percent of this blend is from our sixty acre Red Ranch in the Alexander Valley. We farm 15 seperate blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon here on ground ranging from gently sloped to terraced. The oldest vines in this blend were planted in 1987. The remaining 46% of this Cab comes from our Bismark Mountain Vineyard high in the southern Mayacamas Mountains.

Vintage Notes
Fermentations were both inoculated and non-inoculated, with temperatures ranging from 80-85 F. Press cuts were minimal in 2003. The wine was aged in a mix 40% new and 60% used thin stave French and American oak. Toasting was predominately meduim.

Tasting Notes
The forward black cherry and plum aromas and flavors typical of the Alexander Valley are combined with the unique cedar and sage aromas and firm tannins of our Bismark Mountain Vineyard to create this Estate Cabernet.
