2014 Elias Pinot Noir 750ml
Number of Cases: 535
Tasting Notes: Our 2014 Elias Pinot Noir has rich flavors of Bing cherries, violets, cardamom and new leather. The mouthfeel is big and juicy, with a structure that is youthfully firm. Flavors of blueberries and espresso yield to a long finish of tea-spiced oak.
Vineyards: Our Home Ranch block 3 Pinot Noir was planted to three clonal selections from Torres, Cambria and Mondavi.
Vintage 2014: The 2014 growing season was textbook perfect in the Russian River Valley; substantiating the mantra of warm days and cool nights. The dry winter and summer were punctuated by a couple of key spring rains. Frost was not an issue and disease pressure was low. This resulted in an intense, concentrated and well-structured Pinot. Our nine tons of ELIAS Pinot Noir were harvested on September 4, 2014 at an average Brix of 26.0o
Winemaking: The 2014 Pinot Noir was harvested at night and just after sunrise. While still cold, the hand harvested Pinot clusters were carefully sorted then gently destemmed. The must was cold soaked for four to five days, and then fermented with indigenous yeast. The Pinot was barrel aged for 10 months in 59% new French oak barrels, coopered by Marcel Cadet, and Remond.
