Hanna Rosé 2019 750ML
Vineyards: Our Sonoma Rosé is crisp and lively and captures the exuberance that fills harvest’s early days. The 2019 is a blend of 79% Malbec from our Alexander Valley Red Ranch and 21% Pinot Noir from our Home Ranch in Russian River Valley.
Rose Vintage 2019: Winter was mild and very wet, delaying bud break and setting the stage for a dry farmed year in the RRV. Degree-days tracked a bit higher than 2018, with ideal weather and no temperature spikes. Alexander Valley weather tracked typically hotter though we only hit 100 twice in August before picking our Malbec. Fruit for this Rose was picked August 28, 2019 at an average 18.2 o Brix, 0.96 TA and 3.14 pH at harvest.
Winemaking: The Malbec and Pinot Noir grapes for our Rosé were whole cluster pressed to minimize color extraction and fermented cool to retain the vibrancy and freshness of the fruit. Bottled in its youth with minimal handling, this dry Rosé has a vibrant natural acidity and low alcohol, bottled at 12.0% Alc, TA 0.67 mg/L and pH 3.24.
Tasting Notes: Color presents as pale faceted Morganite. The aromas of tea rose, agua de sandia with a twist of lime and jasmine fairly leap from the glass. Joyous, zingy and juicy, it is ready for the summer of life, with flavors of strawberry freezer jam, lime zest and a finish of vanilla bean panna cotta. (Tasted 5-25-20)
We grow and vinify our Rosé to be fresh, vibrant, and evocative of the grapes themselves. We have chosen a screwcap closure— unsurpassed in its ability to retain our wines exuberance. Our Rosé is bottled with minimal handling shortly after fermentation; therefore, it retains some naturally-produced carbon dioxide which is responsible for the slight effervescence. Please note that proper conservation requires cool, even temperatures and the absence of light.
