NV Two Ranch Red 750ml
Vineyards: Our Two Ranch Red is 100%
Sonoma County. 84% of the grapes in the Two Ranch Red are from our Red Ranch in
Alexander Valley and nine percent are from our Bismark Mountain Vineyard above
Sonoma Valley in the newly-named Moon Mountain District. The blend also
contains 7% Pinot Noir from our Home Ranch Vineyard in the Russian River
Valley.
Winemaking: Our Two Ranch epitomizes
the gestalt of blending, and its synthesis is similar to creating a delicious
dish from many ingredients. We vinify each variety separately with a variety of
winemaking techniques. This includes cold soak, a combination of pump over,
rack and return, and punch down. All the wines were pressed to taste and aged
on lees in a combination of French Hungarian and American oak barrels. Our Two
Ranch Red is blended cross-vintage and with multiple varieties to maximize
spice, fruit flavors and suppleness.
Tasting Notes: In the glass our Two Ranch is
saturated purple with a crimson edge. This 2016 bottling exudes aromas of
pluot, Himalayan blackberry, licorice and a hint of thyme. These aromas are
echoed in the mouth with additional nuances of currant and nutmeg spice.
Ultra-plush and supple on mid palate, the Cabernet component provides a density
that augurs graceful aging. (Tasted 7-20-17)
