The Vineyard
This season marked a return to near normalcy after the remarkably challenging 2006 vintage. A dry winter and very dry spring were followed by moderate summer. Bud break was early and disease pressure was low. Frost was absent, and as a result we entered summer with very dry ground. We set a moderate crop at our Slusser Road Pinot Noir vineyard A heat spike in August had many predicting an early harvest. This proved to be the case with our Pinot Noir. Our Pinot is fermented with native yeast and manually pressed to tank. It is then transferred to French oak barrels where it is aged on light lees until a month before bottling without filtration.
