2022 Hanna Rosé 750ML

Vineyards: Our Sonoma County Rosé is crisp and lively and captures the exuberance that fills harvest’s early days. The 2022 is 100% Malbec from our Alexander Valley Ranch blocks 1 and 34.

Alexander Valley 2022: October 2021 brought an atmospheric river event that recharged the soil profile. The next growing season, this led to an even bud break, strong early growth and a moderate crop. A Goldilocks summer, until Labor Day that is, resulted in even ripening and an early start to harvest. The slope steepened dramatically over Labor Day, with days of high heat pushing sugar accumulation. The Malbec for this Rosé was picked on September 16, 2022.


Winemaking: Malbec grapes from our Alexander Valley Ranch were destemmed to tank, then a fraction of the juice was pulled off to make the Rosé. This technique, known as saignée, differs from the whole cluster pressing of most of our Rosés. The juice was fermented cool (51 to 58 °F) to retain the vibrancy and freshness of the fruit. Bottled in its youth, this dry Rosé has a vibrant acidity and low alcohol, bottled at 11.8% Alc, TA 0.73 mg/L and pH 3.34.  

Tasting Notes: A Rosé for all seasons: Autumn sunset pink, the aromas are dominated by summer Rainier cherries, spring rose garden and winter satsuma mandarins. Initial flavors of yellow watermelon, Alpine strawberries, and Fuyu persimmons, are finished with orange zest and freshly brewed silver needle tea. (1/26/2023)


We grow and vinify our Rosé to be fresh, vibrant, and evocative of the grapes themselves. We have chosen a screwcap closure— unsurpassed in its ability to retain our wines exuberance. Our Rosé is bottled with minimal handling shortly after fermentation; therefore, it retains some naturally-produced carbon dioxide which is responsible for the slight effervescence. Please note that proper conservation requires cool, even temperatures and the absence of light.
