2024 Hanna Rosé 750ML

2024 Hanna Rosé 750ML

Appellation
Sonoma County

Vineyards: Our Sonoma County Rosé is crisp and lively and captures the exuberance that fills harvest’s early days. The 2024 is an “unconceivable” blend of 41% Pinot from our Home Ranch, 24% Sangiovese and 13% Nero d’Avola from our Dry Creek Mountain Vineyard, 18% Malbec from our Alexander Valley Ranch, and a touch (trade secret) of Russian River Sauvignon Blanc.

Vintage 2024: Winter and Spring of 2024 were perfect. 30 plus inches of rain, adequate chilling but minimal frost and a few inches of rain during the early growing season, resulted in some shatter and crop reduction, but segued into uneventful spring and a summer with a few short heat spikes in late spring and summer. Crop set was below average, disease pressure low and fires absent. Late season-withering heat, at least from the standpoint of early harvested rose, was absent, resulting in vibrant, plump grapes.

Winemaking: Pinot Noir and Nero d’Avola were harvested August 26, 2024, and gently whole cluster pressed and co-fermented. This resulted in a very crisp wine with the barest hint of pink (think Blanc de Noir). The Sangiovese and Malbec were harvested in mid-September, destemmed to tank, then a fraction of the juice was drained together in a second small tank. This technique, known as saignée, makes a rounder, pinker wine. Both Rosé lots were fermented cool (51 to 56 °F) to retain the vibrancy and freshness of the fruit. The ’24 blend was assembled in mid-October, aged on lees for six months, and bottled in mid-April.

Tasting Notes: Our 2024 Rosé as delightful as it is inconceivable. A flash of pink, so deft and light, it dances with aromas and flavors of Tea Rose, Crenshaw, nectarine, strawberry, Pink Lady apple, and Persian lime zest. It broods not, this summer’s day. (Tasted 3-25-25)

We grow and vinify our Rosé to be fresh, vibrant, and evocative of the grapes themselves. We have chosen a screwcap closure— unsurpassed in its ability to retain our wines exuberance. Our Rosé is bottled with minimal handling shortly after fermentation; therefore, it retains some naturally-produced carbon dioxide which is responsible for the slight effervescence. Please note that proper conservation requires cool, even temperatures and the absence of light.
